Monthly Lectures:

New Smyrna Beach MArine CenterAll lectures are free to the public and held at MDC from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. No reservations are required.

12/17/15 – Right Whales…. Our guest speaker will be Julie Albert, the coordinator of the Marine Resources Council’s North Atlantic Right Whale Sighting Network. The Florida coast is the only known calving area in the world for these whales.

1/21/16 – Exploring Seasons and Secrets of the Mosquito Coast.
Captain and author Rodney Smith will discuss Phenology of the Mosquito Lagoon.

2/18/16 – Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. Speaker TBA.

Oyster Bag Making

Come participate in our Shuck and Share Oyster Recycling Program by constructing oyster bags. Bagging events will be held the first Saturday of the month at MDC from 8 – 11 a.m.

Guests on this 3 hour adventure experience an interactive eco-tour when they get off the boat to explore one of the islands or sandbars of the Indian River Lagoon. Certified Florida Coastal Naturalists lead the way and help guests identify the many creatures they find with dip and seine nets.
