Community Sustainability Programs

Spring 2021

These programs allow people of all ages to explore and learn about our local habitats while working to make a positive impact. From shoreline cleanups to species identification and more, these fun citizen science tours will help participants gain a better understanding of what it means to be a steward for nature.

All programs are 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Make a difference while exploring the waters of the Indian River Lagoon! We’ll travel along our tour route, then the Captain will drop you and your guide off at a local island to pick up trash. After collections, meet back on the boat to identify items and input them into our database. Who knows what you’ll find on this journey for junk!

Help our habitat stay healthy with this hands-on, feet-wet experience! Your guide will take you along the mangrove forests of the Indian River Lagoon, while picking up debris on the way. This trip gives you the chance to learn about our local ecosystem while also becoming a steward to the plants and animals that call it home. Use your paddle and your passion for a rewarding journey!

Is your group interested in a garbage pickup with a visit from an MDC staff member? Our Rubbish Rangers hit the road to teach your class or group all about the pollution around them and what kinds of solutions they can use!
