This Saturday, April 19th, the Orlando PBS station will be coming to MDC to feature the Shuck and Share oyster recycling project on their television show “One”. The show highlights happenings in Central Florida, and will be showcasing the efforts of our community to recycle oyster shells into living oyster reefs.

Let’s have a strong showing at the open mat-making event from 9am – 1pm at MDC! This is a valuable project that requires support from citizens, restaurant owners, and businesses in the community. Come join us to make mats and contribute to the success of the recycling initiative.

The TV crew will hear from representatives from Off the Hook and Brigadoon Fish Camp, two of our participating restaurants. They also want to hear from volunteers involved in the project, so come tell Central Florida how YOU are showing your love for the lagoon. After you work up an appetite constructing oyster mats, we can point you toward one of our 10 contributing restaurants to enjoy a fresh seafood lunch.

We are thankful to all the volunteers and partners who help make this project possible. This is a great opportunity to show Central Florida our efforts to restore and improve our local area. See you on Saturday.
