P1050829Friends and volunteers of the Marine Discovery Center will have an opportunity to participate in a “Restore-A-Reef Day” in June for a feet-wet working experience in oyster-reef restoration.

Set for June 30, volunteers will engage in boat-based restoration work to deploy oyster mats at a reef site inCanaveral National Seashore. The workday will be held from 7 -11 a.m.,  and involve several hours working outdoors alongside our friends at Brevard Zoo and the University of Central Florida.

Restore-A-Reef day will offer rewarding experience and involvement in stabilizing the Indian River Lagoon’s shorelines. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for the event by June 18, as boat space is limited. P1050838
