MDC's Island Adventure Boat Tour

Our Island Adventure Boat Tour gives adults and children alike a glimpse of what it’s like to attend our hands-on, feet-wet camps! Guests on this 3 hour adventure experience an interactive eco-tour aboard our boat, The Discovery, and explore one of the many islands of the Indian River Lagoon. Certified Florida Coastal Naturalists lead the way and help guests identify the many creatures they find with dip and seine nets. Fish, conchs, sea stars, horseshoe crabs, and many others abound on these islands and sandbars!Check our calendar for the next tour!

Manatee Rescue Aug 2013

MDC staff and volunteers joined Volusia County and FWC on Aug 23rd to help rescue 6 manatees trapped in a shallow tidepool by the outgoing tide on the island north of the North Causeway drawbridge. After 2 hours of hard work, all 6 manatees had been safely returned to open water.

2011 Halifax Oyster Festival

The Halifax Oyster Festival was held on April 30th, 2011 at Manatee Island Park in downtown Daytona Beach. The event was held from 10am until 6pm with raw, steamed and specialty oyster dishes along with great local eats. This non-profit event was a day of good food, live music and cold beer while helping out the local oyster bed restoration.
