Florida Master Naturalist Program

Coastal Systems Module

Through classroom, field trip, and practical experience, this 6-day module provides instruction on the general ecology, habitats, vegetation types, wildlife, and conservation issues of Coastal Systems in Florida – Coastal Uplands, Estuarine, and Nearshore Marine Environments. The program also addresses societies role in coastal areas, develops naturalist interpretation skills, and discusses environmental ethics.

Day 2 – 2012, February 24 – Invertebrates: Volume 1

Day 3 – 2012, March 2 – Fish, Herptiles: Volume 2

10:30am-1:15pm Field Trip (on boat)- Seine Netting: Bring bag lunch
1:30pm-2:30pm Presentation – Fish
2:30pm-3:30pm Presentation – Reptiles/Amphibians

Day 4 – 2012, March 9 – Birds and Mammals: Volume 2

NOTES: Field Trips – Please be prepared to get wet during Field Trips. Please bring a towel, change of clothes, close-toe shoes, sunscreen, bug spray, water and a sense of adventure!
Make up Days: You are allowed to miss 1 of the scheduled 6 days. Please discuss make up options with the instructors.
